I guess the main reason I decided to try it is because I am one of the most picky eaters you will ever find. For example, My MIL started to use chia seeds in her morning smoothie, she told me all about how healthy they are and offered to let me try them. now she had them in water and when they get wet they "gel" , but to my eyes they looked like they were "slimy". There was NO WAY I was gonna put that in my mouth! Texture and smell can stop me dead in my tracks.
It's only been a couple weeks since I started but I think I have my daily smoothie down to a science and it cost me less than a dollar to make! I have found that I like a little texture but not to much so here's how I do it.
My frozen fruit mix is made of
Cantaloupe
Blueberries
Strawberries
Mango
Peaches
Pineapple
(All of which I got fresh at the farmers market, cut up and portioned out into 14 servings of about 1 1/2 cups with enough pineapple left over I won't have to get one next time)
Apple
Pear
( not as easy to freeze so I didn't bother but when the weather changes I might try it)
A large handful of spinach
1/2 a cucumber
1teaspoon chia seed
Water
So I pull the frozen fruit the night before and leave it on the top shelf of the fridge. I use a Bullet with the blender attachment and add water to make a smoothie. I put it in the glass then put the juicer screen in and juice the rest with a little more water and put the juice in the smoothie. Delicious even if it is greenish brown.
